Stainless Steel

17-7 PH Stainless Steel combines the advantages of  Austenitic Stainless Steel as far as corrosion resistance (similar to Stainless Steel 301) and Martensitic Stainless Steel responding to thermal treatment. Hardening is done by melting and aging. Since the thermal treatment is performed at relatively low temperatures, the part is not likely to get much distortion (deformation).
17-7 PH appears in condition "A" or "C". In condition "A" (annealed) the stainless steel can be processed, bent, stretched, and upon completing the part it is heat treated to obtain the required hardness. Parameters such as spring back very similar to those of Stainless Steel 301.
Condition "C", in which the material was pre-hardened to higher strength (about 41HRc). After manufacturing, the thermal treatment can give significantly improved yield strenght and hardness.

This material is used to manufacture springs, diaphragms, spring washers, Beleville washers and more.
